                           May I Help You? offers classes to 
							meet the requirements of both the Dental Board of 
							California and Cal/OSHA  
							As of November 11, 2011, the California Dental Practice Act Business and Professions Code, Article 7, Section 1750 (c) was amended to state:
							 
							(c) The employer of a dental assistant shall be responsible for ensuring that the dental assistant who has been in continuous employment for 120 days or more, has already successfully completed, or successfully completes, all of the following within a year of the date of employment:
							 
							
								- A board-approved 2-hour course in the Dental Practice Act.
								
 
								- A board-approved 8-hour course in infection control.
								
 
								- A course in basic life support offered by an instructor approved by the 
							American Red Cross or the American Heart Association, or any other course approved by the 
							board as equivalent and that provides the student the opportunity to engage in hands-on simulated 
							clinical scenarios.
								
 
							 
							
							(d) The employer of a dental assistant shall be responsible for ensuring that the dental assistant maintains certification in basic life support.
							 
							(e) This section shall become operative on January 1, 2010.
							 
							May I Help You? is pleased to announce that we will be providing the mandatory 8-hour Infection Control course 
							and the Dental Practice Act course for unlicensed Dental Assistants through the Santa Clara County Dental Society.
							 
							The 8-hour infection control course will be provided as:
							 
								
									- A 4-hour didactic portion of the Infection Control class. The student will take 
										this portion online prior to the clinical portion.
									
 
									- A 4-hour clinical portion, which consists of instruction and performance 
									evaluation. The clinical portion will be presented by Carolyn A. Mortensen, R.D.A. 
									and Eloise M. Reed, R.D.A.
									
 
								 
							
							If the participant needs the two hour Dental Practice Act course, it will be available on the same day as 
							the clinical portion of the infection control course. The Dental Practice Act is presented by 
							Carolyn A. Mortensen, R.D.A. 
							The location of the clinical portion and the Dental Practice Act course is the Santa Clara County Dental 
							Society, 1485 Park Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126
